More Density, Less Damage, and Better Data

Watch how our PacD solutions can help your company!

Increase Savings

Savings are achieved through more effective protection and a substantial improvement of product density inside cartons, pallets, and shipping containers. With better control over carton style, specification, selection, sizing, and packing we target improvement in container utilization between 5-20% and reductions in damage and product returns by more than 75%. These savings increase exponentially for air freight and e-commerce where the “right size” and “right spec” for shipping cartons can lead to the elimination of volumetric penalties. Customers pay to ship more product, not air or excessive corrugate, at the expensive rates.

Control Over Compliance

Furthermore, our PacD solutions increase control over compliance at the pre-shipment or booking stage and ensure accurate data on carton dimensions. The optimized designs and dimensions, managed with visibility via our on-line packaging portal, establish consistency across your factory base and ensure accurate dimensional data. These optimal, visible, and accurate dimensions create savings on the individual boxes AND improve planning at all stages of the in-bound journey. Origin partners can more confidently manage the “orders” by choosing the right equipment by carrier with the right vessel, port & rail combination. Destination DC can more confidently plan and allocate inbound product.

Clear, updated, and accessible transit packaging standards

Proper pack design and sizing, coupled with clear packaging specifications and quality standards, will reduce damage rates and typically achieve an 8-20% overall reduction in the outside dimension of the in-bound box. Standards and specs are developed with an understanding of the local cost and feasibility of each origin packaging market. Vendors can access the packaging requirements at the Division, Department, Class, and Product level.

Training and education at the Vendor and factory level

Local technical and packaging engineering support to assist in interpreting standards with engineering and design direction. Our Transit Packaging IT solution serves as a web portal for retailers and vendors to share packaging guidelines and detailed carton information. It supports both hard and soft line product processes. Effective communication of packaging requirements supported by local language customer and technical service ensures that each Vendor has the opportunity and the accountability to be successful.

Compliance stage gate and PRE-SHIPMENT approvals

Vendor compliance includes oversight and pre-shipment testing of materials, box sample or final pack. Vendor cannot move forward until pre-shipment compliance protocol is complete and transit packaging has been optimized according to requirements. Packaging material and supplier audit and qualification is available as needed to support any need for visibility into the upstream supply chain.

IT Solutions to optimize data capture, load planning and Visibility

Vendors request carton dimensions to be approved as needed, which must also align to pre-configured packaging standards and validation rules. Upon approval of compliance protocols Vendor will confirm how they have packed final products with documentation and data entry so as to ensure packaging data is always up-to-date and accurate. Packaging data is then shared for planning and integrated with your 3PL, SCM, ERP or WMS system so there is always one version of the truth across the entire supply chain.
