Looking For A Partner
When looking for a Supply Chain Services Provider, Therma-Tru was looking for more than a provider, we were looking for a partner to guide us through many aspects of the logistics industry. Early in the process, we identified that partner as Allport Cargo Services, USA (ACS). For Therma-Tru, some of the main areas of focus for us include (but are not limited to): procurement, dynamic planning and allocation routing, and MQC control. ACS excels at carrier management, using Infor Nexus as its software provider.
Procurement
Therma-Tru has been able to streamline its carrier pool from 8 to 2, using a BCO and our 3PL Shippers Association Group, a partner with ACS. Since the shipper’s association combines members’ freight, we have been able to negotiate contract rates that are lower than we previously had prior to working with ACS. This reduction in ocean spend has allowed us to navigate through the rates increases because of the Covid pandemic. ACS has been able to utilize the contract data and combine it with our shipping data, giving us an accurate depiction of our freight spend. This provides an accurate measurement of anticipated budget vs. actual spend.

Dynamic Planning and Allocation Routing
ACS uses an allocation matrix and rates to proactively plan the best carrier for each shipment. Once carrier selections are made, ACS uses the Infor Nexus portal to trigger a booking to the carrier and carrier booking confirmations are captured against the planned shipment. Should the carriers reject the bookings, the rejections are automatically logged in the application for immediate action. ACS compares long-term allocation plans against shipment actuals, which ensures that freight bookings are always according to plan.
MQC Control
Therma-Tru has tailored minimum quantity commitments (MQC) against each of its lanes. ACS manages the carriers by having weekly calls with Therma-Tru, its 3PL Shippers Association Group, and its BCO. ACS additionally uses SCI, a BI reporting platform, in order to provide Therma-Tru with dynamic dashboards and metrics in order to follow up as needed. The partnership between ACS and Therma-Tru is built on trust, innovation, and collaboration. We are excited to grow our global business side by side.
