A leading retailer in Europe, Primark has recently begun to accelerate its growth in North America with the support of Allport Cargo Services USA. After the success of the first United States store in Boston in 2015, the past six years have seen 12 new Primark openings across the Northeast, Florida, and Chicago.

Over the next five years, Primark plans to expand its footprint in North America with over 60 new stores. With this expansion, Primark has been partnering specifically with ACS and PacD in two main areas: packaging and compliance.

Primark began its relationship with PacD late in 2017. PacD serves to help improve supply chain performance via increased control over transit packaging at origin. PacD has been instrumental in the design and development of the “Primark Carton Optimisation Programme.”

This carton redesign program has been rolled out to over 200 suppliers across eight countries. This is a three-year program, but after two years, Primark has already onboarded over 75% of its volume. In 2019, Primark won the Environmental Improvement Award at the 2019 Supply Chain Excellence Awards.

When looking for a partner to assist in its ISF filings, Primark looked at ACS for assistance. ACS is an industry leader in ISF filings, being directly integrated with U.S. Customs and Border Protection Agency. Real time ISF responses are critical in the Primark global workflow.

The ACS team implemented a program in 2019 in order to streamline this process. As a result, Primark’s ISFs have been filed quicker with improved accuracy.

As Primark continues to grow, so will the association with ACS. The CFS program in Shanghai and Ningbo is underway, with positive early results. Primark values its honest, direct relationship with ACS, and looks forward to the future!
