A Legacy Brand with a Global Footprint

For more than fifty years, Tireco, Inc. has played a steady role in the American tire industry. Founded in 1972 as a small distributor in Southern California, the company has grown into one of North America’s largest private brand marketers of tires and related products. Today, Tireco manages a broad portfolio of brands, including Milestar and Westlake, serving passenger, light truck, commercial, and specialty markets across the United States.

That growth comes with a complex global footprint. Tireco sources products from multiple countries across Asia, including China, Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, and Cambodia, while supporting a nationwide domestic distribution network. As the brand expanded, the volume and complexity of its import operations expanded with it.

Managing thousands of containers across regions requires more than coordination. It demands consistency, visibility, and reliable data that teams can trust. As Tireco’s operations scaled, the company recognized the need for a more unified way to work with suppliers and carriers. The goal was to support timely decisions and create confidence in planning across the network.

That need led Tireco to partner with Allport Cargo Services. When Violet Chen stepped into her role as VP of Procurement, Brand Division, she brought firsthand experience working with ACS in a prior role. Her familiarity with the partnership model helped guide Tireco toward an approach that balanced operational discipline with tools designed for large scale global sourcing.

In 2024, Tireco adopted the Infor Nexus platform as the shared environment used by ACS to coordinate activity across suppliers, carriers, and internal teams. Through Nexus, suppliers follow a single structured workflow to accept purchase orders, submit bookings, and upload required documentation.

This kind of standardization reduces manual back and forth and ensures that shipments start with the right information in place. Exceptions surface earlier, communication is clearer, and teams operate from a unified view of incoming volume rather than disconnected data points.

With Nexus in place, Tireco gained consistent visibility into shipment progress. Real time milestones and outbound ASNs provide an accurate picture of where freight stands at each stage. Green shipment indicators confirm when documentation is complete and ready for downstream processing.

That visibility helps Tireco plan receiving activity across its distribution centers and maintain steady inventory flow across multiple product lines. The information is easy to reference and dependable, supporting both daily execution and longer term planning decisions.

ACS and Tireco continue to refine the system to reflect real world operational needs. Custom tools support more accurate supplier shipping orders. Product reference fields improve tracking for items with similar specifications. PO cancellation workflows provide flexibility when production or demand shifts.

Carrier integrations strengthen milestone reliability and allow Tireco to monitor performance across a broad ocean network. Each enhancement aligns with Tireco’s scale and supports predictable, well coordinated operations.

Documentation is another area where structure adds real value. Suppliers upload commercial invoices, packing lists, and ISF files within clearly defined timelines. ACS reviews each document, assembles complete and accurate sets, and distributes them through Tireco’s FTP channel. ACS also submits ISF data through Infor Nexus on Tireco’s behalf, helping reduce clearance risk and keep shipments moving smoothly.

This consistent approach reduces clearance risk and gives Tireco’s import team confidence that each shipment is supported by accurate, complete information.

Looking ahead, Tireco and ACS are focused on continued improvement. Current initiatives include exploring a virtual warehouse at origin, expanding DDP shipments, refining replenishment planning, and strengthening domestic transportation connections.

By partnering with ACS and investing in tools that bring clarity and consistency to global operations, Tireco has built a supply chain foundation that supports its growth, its customers, and its future.
